Since its foundation in 1895, Chiropractors have been helping patients to get well and stay well. During this time, Chiropractic has not only survived, but thrived. It is now one of the largest health professions, with around 50,000 chiropractors currently practicing in the United States. Kennesaw chiropractor Dr. Powell has over a decade of experience practicing Chiropractic, helping people to get their health back, and maintain it.

Chiropractic First

Chiropractic serves as a great first line of defense in maintaining our health and assisting the people that are in various health crises. Because the nervous system, the “master control” system of the body, is so intricately linked with the health of our spine, chiropractic has been shown to be help people with many conditions besides back pain and neck pain. We have had great success with conditions such as asthma, allergies, carpal tunnel, ear infections, headaches, sciatica, whiplash injuries, and more.

Chiropractic is safe!

Malpractice insurance companies estimate the relative risk of different professionals and translate this into insurance premiums. The average cost of malpractice insurance for a medical doctor is around $20,000 per year, whereas a typical premium for a chiropractor is less than $2,000 per year. When we consider risk, it’s always important to ask, “Compared to what?”

Consider the standard medical treatment for musculoskeletal pain, which is typically NSAIDS, or anti-inflammatory drugs. Risk of bleeding to death from the gastro-intestinal tract after taking these medications is 400 in a 1,000,000. Compare this to the relative risk of chiropractic adjustments. The #1 accusation frequently made is that neck adjustments cause vertebral artery dissection, a type of stroke. However, a recent study found that there is no increased risk of vertebral artery dissection from seeing a chiropractor, compared with seeing a medical doctor. Chiropractors are well-trained in detecting risk factors for possible complications associated with adjustments, and know when to modify or abstain from adjusting procedures.
